StopTime was started in 2007 by, of all people, a group of recorder and early music enthusiasts. Originally, the band included a full recorder ensemble with sackbut (a type of medieval instrument like a trombone), playing our own unique brand of jazz.
Nearly 20 years and several personnel changes later, and after losing our dear friend and trombone player to pancreatic cancer, we have have evolved into a more classic quartet playing a wider range of music, including some new tunes of our own creation. Our vocal, fiddle, guitar, bass, and drums combo now performs everything from turn-of-the-20th-century rag, jazz, and folk, to Beatles covers and other classic rock, and even to some recent hits from the 21st century – providing our own twist to make songs you thought you knew sound like something new.
Our main goal is to create a show that is engaging and gets you moving and singing along – in other words, we hope you have as much fun as we do!
And yes, we still occasionally feature a recorder. That’s just part of the fun.

StopTime features, left to right: Steve Walker – bass and guitar; Erin Bell – vocals, recorder, and fiddle; Gary Gregor – percussion; and Phil Belefski – guitar, sax, and vocals
